Crystal Palace Indoor Bowls Club and Lewisham Indoor Bowls Club joined forces in the 2021/22 season, playing at the indoor centre at Kangley Bridge Road, to form one club LEWISHAM & CRYSTAL PALACE INDOOR BOWLS CLUB in October 2021.
Crystal Palace Indoor Bowls Club is the oldest English indoor bowling club, being founded in 1905, the founding father was W.G.Grace the famous English cricketer. Its home was at the Great Exhibition Centre in the original Crystal Palace. It flourished here winning the inaugural National Competition, the Denny cup in 1934/35, and again the following year. It remained at this site until the catastrophic fire in 1936 which destroyed the Centre. Amazingly the following year the club started bowling again at its new site just down the road, in Annerly, where it remained until 2021.
Lewisham Indoor Bowls Club Started its life in 1976 in a four rink Centre above Lewisham shopping centre . In the club transferred to its current site in Kangley Bridge Road.
